- What is the meaning behind the term GrayLight?
- How do I change this website?
- Where can I find ... ?
- Why isn't there a better photograph?

- Where is Hahnalei?
GrayLight can be broken down into gray and light. Gray comes from the
notion that M.C.Escher, a favorite artist of mine, thought of gray as a
representation of infinity. Therefore a gray light can provide a similar
effect to a lighthouse and is fitting for a kingdom by the sea where a magical
light can shine to infinity.
How can gray be a representation of infinity? M.C.Escher, the great
"wallpaper" maker, had many black and white designs which when
either viewed from a distance or drawn to appear to be receding into the
distance created the effect of not black and white but gray.
The proper way to suggest changes is to email the author
or caretaker of this website. Since no particular security measures are
in place, most anyone with any technical ability at all should be able to make
unauthorized changes to this website. There are just no 'brownie points'
to be handed out for bothering to 'hack' non-challenging targets.
There is a page included for searching this
website, however, if you are looking for something that cannot be found, but
should be here, email this website's author (puff@hahnalei.net)
to request support or make a comment. No response is guaranteed,
however, you should feel better afterwards and you may help someone else with
similar desires.
Perhaps the art/project could be displayed under better lighting
conditions. Perhaps there should be more photographs of one particular
subject. Letting the maintainer of the website know what is liked vs.
disliked is very important if any changes are to be even contemplated.
Comments such as "powerful" or "awesome" are not as meaningful
as "the charcoal still life composition appears to be unbalanced with too
many objects bunched to the right side" -- note that this picture is not
included on the website for that reason.
T.69.72. stands for the initials T.E.H. or Theodore Ellis Hahn. The
69 and 72 are decimal number representations for E and H in the ASCII (American
Standard Code for Information Interchange) text
table. ASCII text characters are individually defined by seven bits of
data.
ASCII was proposed by ANSI (American National Standards
Institute) and is the basis of the related eight-bit character set
generally referred to as the ANSI character set. This is not be confused
with the other proprietary eight-bit character set called EBCDIC (Extended
Binary-Coded Decimal Interchange Code) defined
by IBM (International Business Machines).

Hahnalei is a take-off on the kingdom described in the song, "Puff the
Magic Dragon". As such, any misty seashore area can be classified
as "Hahnalei".
